The 3 settings that fix most print problems
Most "prints on 10 pages" issues come down to three settings: scaling, orientation, and print area.
- Fit to 1 page — File → Print → Scaling → Fit Sheet on One Page
- Landscape — for tables wider than they are tall
- Set Print Area — select cells → Page Layout → Print Area → Set

Choose Your Method
Print a Single Worksheet
The basic method for printing one confirmed worksheet.
Click File > Print
Go to the File tab and select Print. (Or press Ctrl + P / Command + P on Mac)
Check the Print Preview
Review the preview on the right side of the dialog. Confirm the format looks correct.
Select Printer & Print
Choose your printer, set the number of copies, and click Print.
Print Multiple Worksheets
Efficiently print several worksheets at once.
Select Consecutive Sheets (Shift)
Click the first sheet tab → Hold Shift → Click the last sheet tab. All sheets between are selected.
Select Non-Consecutive Sheets (Ctrl)
Click the first sheet tab → Hold Ctrl (or Command on Mac) → Click each additional sheet.
Print the Selected Sheets
Go to File → Print. In the "Settings" dropdown, choose "Print Active Sheets" → Click Print.
Format Adjustments (Fix Common Printing Issues)
Fix wrong formatting, bad page breaks, and missing titles.
📐 Page Setup (Margins & Scaling)
Go to Page Layout → Page Setup. Adjust margins, orientation (Portrait/Landscape), and scaling (fit to width/height) so your content fits the page.
📄 Page Break Adjustments
Go to View → Page Break Preview. Drag the blue page break lines to manually fit content onto pages.
📋 Print Title Rows
Go to Page Layout → Print Titles. In "Rows to repeat at top", select the header rows so they appear on EVERY printed page.
📏 Column Width Adjustment
If columns are being cut off, select the columns → Home → Format → AutoFit Column Width, then check the preview again.
